Starting in the Early Years children are given the opportunity to develop their DT skills through exploration and experimentation. Using a variety of practical activities children learn the best ways to cut, join and build using everyday materials. In Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils build on these skills through a variety of creative and practical activities. Work is planned in a sequential way allowing pupils to design, make, evaluate and develop technical knowledge. The curriculum supports topics in each year group and contexts are relevant to our local community and environment. DT has strong cross curricular links and is supported by maths, science, ICT and art. Through our exciting and inspiring curriculum, we hope to develop the designers and engineers of the future.
