Y1 Sussex Phonics Workshop

Forest School

This term we are continuing our topic on Arctic Adventure.  On a Friday afternoon we shall be taking the children to our Forest School for survival training! In order for your child to attend this they will need a warm waterproof coat and a pair of wellies/boots in school every Friday from this week, Friday 24th February. Please put the boots in a named plastic bag.

Just a quick reminder that PE is on a Monday and Tuesday.  The children need full kit in school. This includes a yellow t-shirt, black shorts, plimsolls/trainers and warm outdoor tracksuit.

Phonics Workshops

At the end of Year 1 you may be aware that the children take a National Phonics Screening Test. We will be sending words for them to practise with their homework. We are holding a workshop after school for parents to understand how phonics is taught in school and the information behind the screening. The dates will be as follows:

Miss Furniss (Sussex Class): Wednesday 1st March at 3.15 in Sussex classroom

Mrs Oakes (Goldsmiths Class): Thursday 2nd March at 3.15 in Goldsmiths classroom

You are welcome to bring your children. The meeting should last about 15 minutes.

Thank you for your support,
